What this project means & Why it matters

This project matters to me because mental health challenges are something I have experienced personally and observed closely within competitive sport environments. I have seen firsthand how meaningful mental health support can be when it is available at the right time, as well as how stigma and performance pressure can make it difficult for athletes to seek help, even when they need it. Through the CHAMPS Project, I hope to contribute to environments where athletes feel supported, understood, and able to prioritize their mental health without fear of judgement. I also believe in strengthening understanding of how mental health and performance are closely connected, and how supporting both is essential for athletes to thrive in sport and beyond.
