What this project means & Why it matters
I chose to get involved with the CHAMPS Project because I am a strong advocate for mental health and believe that support should be accessible to everyone. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I experienced my own mental health challenges, and working with a practitioner was life-changing. This inspired me to pursue a career in mental performance consulting to have a similar positive impact on the athletes and performers I work with. Through the CHAMPS Project, I hope to continue the conversation around mental health in sport, improve access to support, and challenge the stigma athletes often face when seeking help. In my first year of consulting, I made several referrals for additional support and witnessed how closely mental health and performance are intertwined. This project allows me to help evaluate the Strategy and contribute to a culture where athletes feel safe, supported, and empowered to perform at their best.
