What this project means & Why it matters
Competitive sport has the capacity to drive positive human development and influence societal culture, but persistent stigma and silence around mental health continue to undermine that potential. As a scientist-practitioner and former coach, I focus on understanding the structures and pressures within high performance environments and on advancing practices that support athletes' well being. The implementation of the National mental health strategy for high performance sport represents a necessary systemic intervention. After just a few years of implementation, I am interested in examining what has genuinely changed, what remains entrenched, and where targeted adjustments are now necessary.
